Little School Boy

School starts soon and I asked my son if he needed anything to start, he just looked at me and said some pay off money would be nice. Ha! Ha! I told him I could show him how to get kick started! It is not like it use to be when we had them in all new clothes and sneakers, with new backpacks and new crayons and spelling tablets! Don't you wish that sometimes and I say sometimes lightly that we could keep them little for a while longer? I bought a package of mechanical pencils and a couple of notebooks and that was all I got. No crayons, glue, scissors or nothing, it was kind of sad. And we won't even venture into the closet. New clothes look like old clothes, torn, frayed, worn out. By all means don't buy a new dark blue pair of blue jeans. They have to be faded with rips and tears and the hems torn out. I even mentioned a new hair cut, pointing out that he wouldn't be able to wear his baseball cap in school. Well I got the "look" and negative grunt! Where is my little boy?

I missed buying all of those supplies, and searching the stores for that perfect "first day of school" outfit this year also. What can I say, our boys are growing up!
